Night Out makes a stand against crime and drugs

Communities across North America, including several in our area, are joining forces Tuesday night to make a stand against crime and drugs.

In all, more than 34 million people are expected to take part in America’s Night Out Against Crime. The national Night Out aims to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness, generate support for, and participation in, local anti-crime programs, strengthen police-community partnerships and let criminals know neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.

Among tonight’s local events, the first ever in Carolina Beach on the boardwalk at 7:00pm. In Leland, the event runs from 5:00 to 9:00pm at the town’s pavilion.
