WFD given OK to ‘overhire’ six firefighters

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The Wilmington City Council gave the OK for a resolution supporting the Wilmington Fire Department to ‘overhire’ six firefighters.

The firefighters will join the recruiting class that begins in October.

This would temporarily help cover vacant positions in the department.

There will be no impact on this year’s budget that’s already in place.
