JROTC cadets world-wide hope to break largest run in military history
LELAND, NC (WWAY) — North Brunswick High School JROTC/ROTC along with cadets around the world ran Saturday in hopes to break a world running record.
The cadets attempted to set a new record for the most people to run a single race at a time to celebrate the 100th JROTC Anniversary.
The Fun Run allowed participants world-wide to run together, depending on your time zone. North Brunswick JROTC ran at 11:00 a.m. Saturday.
“We are doing this to celebrate the purpose of ROTC which is to build citizens of character and to make sure these guys have a fun time building teamwork and comradery as well as getting some good PT in,” Colonel Steve A. Baker, JROTC North Brunswick High School Senior Army Instructor, said.
The high schoolers students were joined by some community member for the 5k run.
Col. Baker said more than 200 participated in the event.
