Community supports Spears’ family with vigil

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Community members gathered for a vigil in Wilmington tonight to support the family of Ebonee Spears.

Spears was reported missing in January.

The vigil was held at 7 p.m. at the Apostolic Tabernacle Church on Wellington Avenue.

There was singing, prayers, and words of inspiration.

Spears’ pastor, Lundy Logue, said the church is like one big family.

“We’re going through a lot, but her family is really going through a lot,” Logue said. “You know, I guess anybody can imagine when you’re family member’s missing and nobody knows where they’re at, it’s a very tragic thing. So we’re just trying to uplift them and support them, and tonight especially we’re trying to bring attention to the situation, and just be a blessing to the family.”

Spears was last seen at her apartment off of 4th Street on January 15.

A $5,000 reward is being offered in the investigation.
