#ThisIsThePlace: NC Museum of Natural Sciences at Whiteville
WHITEVILLE, NC (WWAY) — A branch of the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences is in Whiteville. The main museum is in Raleigh and they decided to add this satellite location last year.
Before the change, the building held the N.C. Museum of Forestry.
Thousands every year come to the relatively new museum which offers investigative labs, an outdoor nature play space, a naturalist center.
They also have several education programs that happens throughout each month that’s for not just children, but adults too.
“There’s something for everyone and we do have some regular exhibits,” Education Coordinator Kellie Lewis. “Some venus fly traps exhibits, there’s some Lake Waccamaw exhibits so we do encourage grown ups to come here. It’s not just for children.”
The biggest event of the year will be happening on May 21. Bug Fest South will have games and activities all related to bugs. Organizers even say you will have a chance to eat bugs if you would like.
