Arrest made in connection with deadly New Hanover County shooting
NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — The New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a deadly shooting that happened early Tuesday morning in the Wrightsboro area.
New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office detectives have arrested Derrick Lamont Jones, a 26 year old man in connection with the shooting.
Jones is charged with first-degree murder and has no bond.
According to the New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to reports of shots being fired around 2am Tuesday at 1930 Castle Hayne Rd.
24-year-old Larry Brown was struck by gunfire. He was rushed to Novant New Hanover Regional Medical Center, but died of his injuries.
The Sheriff’s Office says this is an ongoing investigation and additional information will be released as it becomes available.
