How long should Christmas decorations stay up?

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — It’s a popular debate. When do you take your Christmas tree and decorations down? 

There’s no right answer. But some people are pretty passionate about it. 

Leland resident Andrea Bertolino said she is in the select group that takes her tree and decorations down after the first of the year. 

She said if she didn’t get caught up in the hustle and bustle of the holidays, her decorations would come down right after Christmas. But she holds off just one more week. 

“I’ll put the Christmas stuff away, begrudgingly, but it will get put away. I’ll just think about the new year and gratitude and hopefully have a wonderful year ahead,” Bertolino said. 

Bertolino said she keeps in mind that the holiday season should be about spending time with loved ones and not the decorations that are a fun part of it.
