‘Are You OK?’ service offers reassurance

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — The Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office is offering a free telephone reassurance program for the elderly or disabled.

The ‘Are You OK?’ service will send out an automated phone call once a day at a set time to just check in and make sure everything is OK. If the person is fine they can simply hang up after the automated message.

Anyone interested in signing up is asked to fill out a short form which includes personal, medical and other information which law enforcement may need in the event of an emergency. It is also required that subscribers provide at least two people (such as a relative or neighbor) that possess keys to their residence in the event that law enforcement officers need to enter the residence to check on the subscriber.

All information will be kept confidential and secure at the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office. A waiver of liability is also required to be completed and signed.
