Festival of Basant at UNCW welcomes spring season

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — International scholars gathered at UNCW this week to discuss translating cultures across global boundaries and they ended the week with celebration.

Organizers say the Festival of Basant is kind of a Pakistani version of our area’s Azalea Festival. It celebrates the change in seasons.

People were able to make and fly kites, learn native Pakistani dances, and celebrate spring with traditions from both Pakistan and the US.
