WFD responds to early morning house fire

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Crews responded to a house fire early Thursday morning.

The Wilmington Fire Department was called to the home on Fairlawn Drive, with smoke and flames showing on arrival.

A search confirmed no one was still inside the home.

Crews jumped into action, knocking the fire down quickly. However, one pet died in the fire and one person was transported to the hospital.

An investigation determined the fire was accidental and electrical in nature.
