Town Council talks sound barriers

LELAND, NC (WWAY) — Some homeowners in Leland said the highway noise just keeps getting worse so the Town Council might ask for a solution from the North Carolina department of Transportation.

The council is talking about the possibility of sound barriers for some neighborhoods, especially those around the work on Highway 17-74-76. They talked about asking the DOT to build the barriers but they would like to consult with engineers first before talking to the DOT.

“They’ve cut down a lot of the trees and all that were there that gave them some type of barrier, which has never been a real good barrier, but not it’s worse,” said Mayor Brenda Bozeman.

If you have concerns about noise in your neighborhood council encourages you to come out to their meeting this Thursday at 6:00 p.m.
