WPD: Couple charged in narcotics bust
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Wilmington Police said a man and woman are facing charges after a six-month-long investigation.
Police said when they executed a search warrant a week ago at a home in the 800-block of Walnut Street, they found Michael Anthony Elijah, 37, trying to flush drugs down the toilet. Detectives found more than 10 grams of raw heroin, 18 Oxycodone pills, more than 26 grams of crack cocaine and other drug paraphernalia, according to a news release.
Police said Elijah and Joy Denise Johnson, 37, are both facing charges including trafficking heroin, drug possession and conspiracy charges. Elijah was booked under a $600,000 bond while Johnson was booked under a $500,000 bond.
