Tropical depression 2 expected to become Tropical Storm Bonnie
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Forecasters continue to track tropical depression #2 about 350 miles southeast of Charleston, SC.
At 11 p.m. Friday, Tropical Storm Warnings continue in effect for the South Carolina Coast.
The system continues to slowly move to the west-northwest towards the Carolina coast. The National Hurricane Center is forecasting this depression to become Tropical Storm Bonnie Saturday. Various forecast computer models have the system off the South Carolina coast this Memorial Day weekend and then slowly drifting up into North Carolina which certainly could put a damper on vacationers’ plans for the unofficial start of the summer vacation season.
Showers, some with heavy rain, will increase Saturday along coastal North and South Carolina as east to northeasterly winds pump in plenty of Atlantic moisture.
