UPDATE: Escaped Duplin inmate in custody

DUPLIN COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — The Duplin County Sheriff’s Office said an inmate who escaped last month has been found.

Ronald Ennis Jr. escaped through a door at the jail and jumped a fence before 10 p.m. on May 25. He’s facing charges including burglary and assault, deputies said.

The sheriff said Ennis was captured in New York City in the Harlem area by NYPD and U.S. Marshals this morning after a short standoff. He is now awaiting extradition back to Duplin County.
