UScellular kicks off tenth annual Black History Month art contest

WILMINGTON, N.C. (WWAY) — As the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday weekend begins this Friday, UScellular will celebrate with members of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Southeastern North Carolina Brigade Campus by beginning their artwork for the company’s annual Black History Month Art Competition.
club members will create original 8.5 x 11 pieces of artwork in recognition of influential notable Black figures in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM), including historical figures, world leaders, scientists, and educators.
Ten finalists will be chosen by representatives from the Boys & Girls Clubs and local UScellular leaders based on creativity, quality, interpretation, clarity of theme and overall impression.
The finalists’ artwork will be digitally displayed in select stores and from February 1st through the 15th.
Anyone 18 or older is invited to vote for their favorite art online.
The top three vote-getters will be announced in late February and will receive prizes of $250 for first place, $150 for second, and $100 for third.
New to the 2024 contest, the top three first-place submissions with the most votes from all participating Clubs will also be named national winners and will receive an additional $250, bringing their total winnings to $500, while their home Club will also receive a $1,500 donation.
