MLK Community Center holds Fun Day in honor of Martin Luther King
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Ahead of Martin Luther King Day, the MLK Community Center hosted a “Fun Day” on January 13 to celebrate the life and achievements of Dr. King.
Organizations from around the Cape Fear attended, hosting two bouncy houses, games, activities, and more. Some of the event attendees included Cape Fear Habitat for Humanity, Wilmington Police Department, and DREAMS Center for Art Education.
One booth encouraged kids of all ages to pursue their dream, just as Martin Luther King did.
Lucinda Early was one of the event volunteers and shares her dream of becoming a doctor.
“I’m interested in being a doctor, but I want to be a certain kind of doctor,” Early said. “I want to be an ophthalmologist.”
Early’s booth also encouraged kids to take a photo in a doctor’s coat and share their own dream.
There are many more upcoming events celebrating Martin Luther King Day, including a parade in downtown Wilmington.
