Wrightsville Beach business offers coffee and underwater treasures

WRIGHTSVILLE BEACH, NC (WWAY) — A new coffee shop has opened on Wrightsville Beach, but there’s more than just a bite to the coffee.

With walls covered in shark teeth, the Workshop has become both a museum and a cafe.

From great whites to tiger sharks to even megalodons, owner Audrey Longtin says all of the teeth in the Workshop are from North Carolina.

Coffee and sharks teeth may seem like an odd combination, but she says it was easy to mix two of her passions.

She and her boyfriend are scuba divers and say their favorite spot is about 40 miles off the Cape Fear coast where they dive over 100 feet deep.

“At some point, I was like I’m going to cover the walls with sharks teeth that we have and try to share it with people,” Longtin said. “They are just too beautiful to keep them for myself.”

Longtin hopes to start a charter for scuba diving out of the Workshop so she can take people to find their own sharks teeth.

She says sharks shed about 30,000 teeth over a lifetime so she’s excited to continue searching for a whole lot more.
