Man arrested following early morning Wilmington shooting

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A man has been arrested following a shooting early Thursday morning.
Wilmington Police say units heard gunshots around 4:40 a.m. while on patrol in the 300 block of S. 15th Street.
Officers say they located a possible suspect in the 1500 block of Ann Street shortly after.
As he was given commands, officers say a gun was spotted. Police say he resisted arrest but was eventually taken into custody.
36-year-old Shawreed Fitzgerald is charged with Shooting into Occupied Dwelling, Carry Concealed Weapon-Gun, Resist Delay Obstruct, Communicating Threats, and Possession of Firearm by a Felon.
Property damage was later located at S. 15th and S. 16th Streets, police say.
Fitzgerald’s bond was set at $60,000 secured.
