Ocean rescue warning swimmers to be aware after 20 rescues
WRIGHTSVILLE BEACH, NC (WWAY) — Wrightsville Beach Ocean Rescue is warning swimmers of rip currents this holiday weekend after more than a dozen rescues.
Ocean Rescue Captain Jeremy Owens said they had about 15 rescues Saturday and at least 6 already today. Owens also said they had a 911 call about paddle boarders in distress near Masonboro Sunday morning. No injuries were reported.
Crews have caution flags on the beach, but Owens said to be aware while swimming.
