Police: Victim dismembered in Morehead City murder

MOREHEAD CITY, NC (WCTI) — Morehead City Police released new information in the murder investigation of a 37-year-old woman.

Police said the victim, Wendy Rae Tamagne, 37, was beaten, strangled, stabbed, and her body was dismembered. She was found dead in her apartment at the Country Club Apartments in Morehead City at around 6:30 p.m. Tuesday. Police had been called there for a welfare check on a person.

Police are looking for David Godwin, 25, of Newport. A warrant for arrest has been issued for Godwin for an open count of murder. He is 5-foot-8 and weighs approximately 185 pounds. Godwin is thought to driving the victim’s stolen 1998 black Ford Ranger truck with step-side bed with NC license plate DLT-6114. The truck is possibly missing a front bumper. Godwin could also be driving a black and chrome 2007 Honda CMX250C sportster style motorcycle with NC license plate 6C3292.
