According to Animal Control Manger Joey Prince, the shelter received gifts from The Columbus Humane Society, Brunswick County Fix-A-Friend, and and anonymous donor.

The Columbus County Humane Society donated 10 new beds for the dogs. The beds are designed to be ‘chew-proof’, so they are safer for the animals. The beds will be used to replace the old, worn-out beds currently being used.

A portable air conditioning unit was donated by Brunswick County Fix-A-Friend. Prince says the unite was added to the feral cat room to keep it at a more comfortable temperature. He says the feral cat room is usually a few degrees warmer than the rest of the shelter, but now the cats can be more comfortable.

An anonymous donor provided 25 Thunder Shirts. The shirts apply gentle, constant pressure to an animal’s torso, that many experts believe works in a similar manner to swaddling an infant or people with autism applying pressure to reduce persistent anxiety.
