WilmingtoNColor offering black history tours in Wilmington
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — One great way to celebrate this Black History Month is by taking a tour of downtown Wilmington.
WilmingtoNColor is a tour bus group that will take you around downtown Wilmington, stopping by historic sites along the way.
Some of the stops include important sites during the 1898 Massacre and Coup D’état, the Civil Rights Movement, the story of the Wilmington Ten, and much more.
WilmingtoNColor tour guide Cedric Harrison said although it is centered around the 1898 Coup, here is so much more to be discovered.
“That is not the only exclusive story that we share on the tour,” Harrison said. “We tell you about 200+ years of rich Wilmington heritage from Wilmington natives that made accomplishments that was not just huge on a local, city-wide scale, but on a state scale, national, and even global scale.”
In addition to the tour, WilmingtoNColor will also be hosting a “Bad and Boujee Black History Brunch” at the newly stablished black-owned restaurant Brunch Thyme on Sunday, Feb. 18 from 1-5 p.m.
