Driver at large after bicyclist injured in hit and run in Rocky Point

ROCKY POINT, NC (WWAY) — Law enforcement is searching for a driver after a bicyclist was injured.

According to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, 33-year-old George Saunders IV was riding his bike on NC 210 near Mooretown Road on Friday evening around 6:40 pm.

A driver headed in the same direction hit Saunders and kept going. Saunders was taken to Novant Health New Hanover Regional Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

Law enforcement is searching for the driver. There was no trace of the vehicle left at the scene. Officers say there are currently no leads on the vehicles make or model.
