Josiah Brown is now 6 and hooping it up in Wilmington with style points

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — In 2014 we featured Josiah Brown and his basketball skills. WWAY’s story ended up going viral. In fact it landed on the front page of Yahoo thanks to the hoops sensation and his sensational smile. We checked in with Josiah again last summer. We did it again Wednesday evening. We decided to challenge Josiah to see if he could take his game outside on a hot summer day against college students. Teaming up with his father the answer is yes. He can handle it. “Right now he’s still continuing to grow on his basketball IQ,” Demetrius Brown told WWAY.  “That’s the biggest leap from last year to this year is his knowledge and wisdom of the game. It’s the basketball plays he is able to make, small things like screens, rolls and screens away from the ball. He’s learning basketball fundamentals and then implementing them into the game which is what I enjoy watching him do on a daily basis now.”

The television camera is nothing new to Josiah. He’s also quite used to posing with some of the best basketball players in the world. He has pictures with Stephen Curry, LeBron James, Muggsy Bogues and Kevin Durant just to name a few.

Slam dunks are still a bit down, the road, but Josiah is now able to hit three point shots. That’s definitely something new in his arsenal. “There is definitely no pressure,” Demetrius Brown told us. “The only pressure I put on him is when we play together and I am trying to win.”
