Supply heroin dealer sentenced to over 7 years in prison

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) —  A Supply heroin dealer will spend a minimum of 7.5 years in state prison.

District Attorney Jon David announced 34-year-old Kevin Jermaine Hankins pleaded guilty to heroin trafficking charges. On Wednesday August 3, Hankins pleaded guilty to trafficking 28 or more grams of heroin in Brunswick County Superior Court.

Superior Court Judge Cash Martin sentenced Hankins to a minimum of 7.5 years in the North Carolina Department of Corrections. Assistant District Attorney Chris Thomas prosecuted the case.

In July 2014, Hankins was arrested after a high speed chase. That led to the seizure of about 8,000 bindles of heroin that had been purchased in New Jersey and were being sent brought to Brunswick County.
