Wilmington teen sentenced in armed robbery
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A Wilmington teenager will spend up to eight years in prison for an armed robbery.

According to a release from the New Hanover County District Attorney’s Office, 19-year-old Michael Damon plead guilty to two counts of robbery with a dangerous weapon for his party in a September 16, 2015 robbery.
The victims reported they were at the Food Lion on Oleander Drive delivering newspapers for the Star News early the morning on the 16th. Officials say Damon walked up to the woman with a handgun and demanded money, then pointed the gun at the man, cocked the gun, and demanded money. That’s when Damon fled into a car driven by Quran Thompson.

Officials say the suspects wrecked the car and then ran into the Park Avenue and Peachtree Street area. They were both arrested by Wilmington Police.
Judge Ebert T. Watson sentenced Damon to 73-100 months in the Department of Adult Correction.
Thompson’s trial is set for next week.
