Canvassing takes place across the state
CAPE FEAR REGION, NC (WWAY) — The official process is underway for certifying North Carolina’s primary election results.
Canvassing took place on Friday across the state. WWAY reached out to Columbus, Bladen, Brunswick, Pender, and New Hanover Counties to see results from local races.
As of right now, in Columbus, Bladen, and Brunswick Counties votes were canvassed and elections were finalized.
There were no changes to races in Columbus and Brunswick Counties.
Bladen County said it’s finished canvassing. There’s no response yet on whether any of the races have changed.
We’re still waiting to hear from Pender and New Hanover Counties about their final results.
New Hanover County Board of Elections Chair Derrick Miller said it is a long process and it’s completed with a lot of help.
“Ya know, we have a lot of volunteers and a lot of election officials who help our elections run fairly, accurately, well, and smoothly,” Miller said. “So, I think it’s really important we thank all of them.”
We will continue to keep you updated if any of the races do change, once we hear back from Bladen, New Hanover, and Pender Counties.
