Wrightsville Beach fire chief resigning March 28th

WRIGHTSVILLE BEACH, NC (WWAY) — The Wrightsville Beach fire chief is officially resigning.

Josh Haraway will leave the role on March 28th, according to town officials.

Haraway had been on paid administrative leave since January 19th.

A petition claiming Haraway had created a toxic work environment received more than 556 signatures in January.

The petition was created by full-time staff and members of the Wrightsville Beach’s Fire Department and Ocean Rescue.

There is no word yet on a search for a permanent replacement, but Matt Holland has been named Acting Fire Chief.
