Kids go for the gold at the Cape Fear Museum

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The Cape Fear Museum’s summer pop up series is bringing kids and their families together out here in the museum’s park for tons of family fun and today it is all about the Olympics.

Today the kids made crowns of leaves and raced homemade boats while talking about the games that bring the world’s greatest athletes together.

Nicholas Gilbert said he’s been coming to the pop-ups all summer long. He said he loves the chance to get out of the house and play.

“I need something to be entertained with that isn’t the screen. Because well, it’s like an influence for me, even if there’s music on I’m just staring at it constantly,” said Gilbert.

The pop-up activities are free for anyone and the museum said they are a great way to have fun as a family, with everyone working and learning together.

There’s just one more week to come out and enjoy the museum’s pop up series left this summer before school starts back but there will be family activities going on all year long.
