Pender County crash on Hwy. 17 sends 2 to hospital

PENDER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — The Highway Patrol is investigating an accident on Highway 17 in Pender County that sent two people to the hospital Monday morning.

It happened around 8:30 a.m. Troopers said a woman driving north on 17 ran the red light at Sloop Point Loop Road and hit a 16-year-old driver turning left. Troopers said the 16-year-old had a green turn signal.

Troopers said the 16-year-old has substantial injuries, but neither of the drivers are facing life threatening injuries.

The Highway Patrol said charges are still pending.
