New Facilities Play Role in Ed Conroy Accepting Job at Tulane Instead of UNCW
The Associated Press reports that Ed Conroy says he agreed to leave The Citadel for Tulane in part because of the promise of new facilities that should make the Green Wave more competitive. Tulane formally introduced Conroy on Wednesday as the Green Wave’s men’s basketball coach. Athletic Director Rick Dickson also says Tulane is moving ahead with plans to build a new practice center that would serve men’s and women’s basketball, as well as the volleyball team. Dickson says the facility will include offices; weight, training, locker and film rooms; and two practice courts. Conroy has been head coach at The Citadel for four seasons. He replaces Dave Dickerson, who resigned last week after five seasons. Tulane was 8-22 this past season.
Ed Conroy was offered the job of men’s head basketball coach at UNCW last week, but he turned down the offer on Tuesday. That’s the same day he said “yes” to Tulane.
