COLUMBUS COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — A Columbus County man is facing charges for a shots fired incident in 2023.

Charles Banner, 23, is accused of obstructing justice and allegedly firing a gun into an occupied mobile home back in March of last year.

It happened on Millie Christine Road in Clarkton.

Earlier this week the US Marshals and Whiteville Police Department in conjunction with NC Probation and Parole apprehended Banner.

The District Attorney’s Office now says Banner was an eyewitness in a homicide case earlier this year and failed to appear after a material witness order was entered by Superior Court Judge
Tiffany Powers.

As a result of his failure to appear, Banner has been indicted with one count of felony obstruction of justice. He is also facing a felony probation violation charge for absconding.

Banner is being held under a one million dollar bond.
