Legion Stadium pool open for dogs to cool down

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) —  It was a dog gone good time Tuesday evening at the Legion Stadium pool.

Dogs of all sizes, ages, and swimming ability were there to cool down from this summer heat and take a dip in the pool!

This is an annual event for the city of Wilmington.

For Olivia Purcell this is the first time bringing her dog and she says it’s a blast for both of them.

“It’s really fun,” Purcell said. “We have a lot of dogs here and we all are sharing toys.  We haven’t had an incidents so far so it’s really great. Everyone is enjoying themselves.”

Per strict regulations from the health department, the pool is opened only for dogs through this Sunday from 4-8 pm.

The entrance fee is $5 per dog per day.

YMCA lifeguards and attendants are on duty during the event.
