State investigating Bladen Co. vote buying allegations

BLADEN COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — The State Board of Elections is investigating allegations of vote buying in Bladen County. Larry Hammond, Bladen County’s Elections Director, said he received a call from the state BOE yesterday informing him of the allegations. He said the BOE did not tell him who made the allegations or about whom the allegations were made.

“We’re sitting and waiting, which is fine,” Hammond said. “Vote buying is a crime.”

Hammond said the state did not give him a timeline for the investigation. Election Day is Tuesday. One Stop Voting ends tomorrow.
