Senior Brookdale Wilmington residents celebrate Earth Day with gardening
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY)– Today is Earth Day, and some residents at a senior living center in Wilmington are doing their part to spruce up the outdoor spaces in their area.
Residents of Brookdale Wilmington are taking part in the community’s “Green Thumb Club”.
The club makes sure the plants and flowers stay beautiful all spring.
The seniors say they love to get out in the fresh air and dig in the dirt.
“We’ve been planting some flowers.”
“We have a lot of people who have been into gardening for most of their adult rational life.”
“The fresh air is great. It’s good for us.”
“It’s good for the soul.”
So far, the residents have planted tomatoes, ferns, roses, herbs, crepe myrtles, and much more.
