Second Street is the most ticketed street in Wilmington

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — While many people love walking around downtown Wilmington, your mood may shift if you see a parking ticket on your windshield when you come back to your car.

Molly Wilhelm with the Star News reports the most ticketed street in Wilmington is Second Street, with nearly 5,300 tickets given out in 2023.

More than half of all tickets given out along Second Street were given to cars parking in parking lots along the street.

Front Street is the second most ticketed with close to 5,100 tickets.

Bartender Bailey Coble said its difficult to avoid being ticketed while she’s working.

“I have gotten quite a few,” Coble said. “I’ve worked downtown for about 5 years now and its really hard to keep up with your meter when you’re inside at work and there’s not a lot of places for employees to park at a reasonable price.”

In total, more than 28,000 tickets were issued in Wilmington last year.
