Wilmington-based tequila brand sues distribution companies after 19,000 bottles were stolen

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The makers of Wilmington-based Hacienda Chactun Tequila—Daytoon Distributors—is suing two distribution companies, Tazmanian Freight and Landstar Express America for at least $75,000, though final damages may be more.

The suit comes after 19,000 of tequila were stolen on their way to North Carolina from Mexico.

The stolen bottles were seized by authorities in Los Angeles, but could not be sold.

We reached out to the attorney representing Daytoon Distributors, but he said he could not comment on the case at this time.
