Man accused of stealing Wilmington food truck

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A man was arrested early Wednesday morning for allegedly stealing a food truck.

Wilmington Police responded to the 1000 block of South College Road around 3:15 a.m.

The vehicle was located on Peachtree Avenue shortly after and officers apprehended the suspect who they say was attempting to escape out of the window of the food truck.

Officers say they also discovered extensive damage which had been done to the food trucks prep area.

Joao Vithor De Lara Silva, 24, has been charged with Felony Larceny of a Motor Vehicle, Injury to Personal Property, and Driving While License Revoked Impaired.

Silva is currently being held under a $50,000 secured bond.
