HOPE rally collects community input for New Hanover County Community Endowment

Residents request AG Josh Stein to review the use of the funds

WILMINGTON, N.C. (WWAY) – Sunday, New Hanover County residents gathered to collect input on how to best spend the funds of the community endowment.

The event took place at Empie Park. Attendees took part in a Q’n’A and signed a petition requesting Attorney General Josh Stein to review the use of the endowment.

H.O.P.E. Chairman Harper Peterson says the mission of the organization is simple; bring community input to the spending of the endowment.

“Actions be the endowment have raised a level of concern; and we thought it was time, as a grassroot effort, to take action,” said Peterson. Peterson Adds that since the endowment was established from the sale of New Hanover Regional Medical Center, the community should decide how to spend those funds.
