Time, money running out for appliance rebates
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Time is running out to save money on new Energy Star appliances. There’s still money left in the North Carolina Appliance Replacement Program.
Customers will receive a rebate up to $300 when they replace one of their home appliances with a new Energy Star rated model. Today marks day number three of phase two of the program, which sold more than 50,000 models statewide in April
“This is something we’re really taking advantage of,” said Eric Gainer, who sells appliances at Sears at Independence Mall in Wilmington. “Customers come in here, select their Energy Star rated refrigerators, freezers, clothes washers, dishwashers, and we actually help them fill out the rebate here in the store before they leave, so when they go home all they have to do is drop it in the mailbox.”
The program began with $8 million in April and was left with only $1 million for this go around. As of this afternoon, less than $200,000 remain. You can visit http://www.NCApplianceRebate.com to see how much money is left.
