Teacher of the Week: David Taylor
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — David Taylor’s motto is “physics is everywhere.” When it comes to physics teachers, however, there is only one Mr. Taylor.
Students say he makes learning fun, even making them like science.
Mr. Taylor knows what they’re talking about.
“When I was the kid’s age I had a wonderful high school physics teacher. I knew then I wanted to do something related to physics in my life,” he said. “I thought I would be a scientist or engineer like most physics majors. But my sophomore, junior year of college, I was doing tutoring and was allowed to teach some freshman lab courses and I just fell in love with the idea of teaching.”
Now he’s the one inspiring young students.
“I love when students come back years later and say ‘Oh, I remember this lesson you did’ or ‘Oh, I took college physics and it was easy’ or something like that. That’s the kind of thing that keeps me going.”
