Voters head to the polls for second Republican primary
LELAND, NC (WWAY) — The second North Carolina Republican primary is being held on Tuesday.
Voters registered Republican, or unaffiliated voters that either voted in the Republican primary in March, or did not vote in any primary are eligible to cast their ballot.
The second primary will decide the Republican candidates for lieutenant governor and state auditor.
One republican voter WWAY spoke with on Tuesday said that although the race only decides two candidates, he feels it’s still his civic responsibility.
“We think it’s, my wife and I think it’s our god given right to make sure we pick the right people to do the correct job,” he said.
Early voting turnout for each county:
- New Hanover: 876
- Brunswick: 645
- Pender: 150
- Bladen: 101
- Columbus: 74
- Total: 1,846
WWAY will have an update on primary results after polls close at 7:30 p.m.
