WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The American Red Cross has always been known to be on the forefront of disaster relief.
With Hurricane Matthew approaching this weekend, they have some tips on how you can stay safe and prepared.
The Cape Fear Branch of the American Red Cross here in Wilmington stresses the importance of staying prepared for the hurricane approaching this weeked.
As they are preparing their emergency situation vehicles, they urge others to have a plan in place as well.
One way to do that is their mobile app. The app allows users to follow the storm, locate shelters in place and plan for your preparation among other features.
If there was one piece of advice the red cross has… it would be to not let your guard down.
“We know that things could change in a moments notice. So even if it looks like it’s pushing away from the coast, it’s good to be at the ready because things can shift very quickly.” said Cape Fear Red Cross Executive Director Vicki Labelle.
