Motorcyclist charged following chase and crash in Columbus County

COLUMBUS COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — One man faces several charges after allegedly leading deputies on a chase through the Green Acres community of Columbus County.
According to the Columbus County Sheriff’s Office, deputies spotted two motorcyclists entering North Carolina without helmets and improperly displaying their license plates.
That turned into a high speed chase, with speeds of 74mph in a 55mph zone.
The Columbus County Sheriff’s Office says Sammy Maurice Daniels, 34, lost control of the bike and crashed into a ditch. Deputies arrested Daniels and recovered a stolen vehicle.
Daniels is charged with one felony count possession of a stolen vehicle, one felony count flee/elude arrest with motor vehicle, one misdemeanor count of having no motorcycle endorsement, one misdemeanor count drive/allow motor vehicle with no registration, one misdemeanor count permit operation vehicle with no insurance, one infraction motorcycle/moped helmet/PSGR, one infraction fail to stop at stop sign/flashing red light, and one infraction failure to maintain lane control.
