NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — The FBI has issued a warrant for Damian Brezinski, the cardiologist who is currently facing multiple child sex crimes charges.

According to the FBI’s criminal complaint, Brezinski is now facing a federal charge of online sexual enticement of a minor.

Police arrested Brezinski on May 3 at his medical practice in Carolina Beach. He is currently charged with several counts of indecent liberties with a child, rape of a child, sexual offense with a child, and solicit child by computer.

According to the affidavit, on May 2, the Department of Social Services received anonymous tips about the alleged assault. DSS and Kure Beach Police interviewed the 10-year old victim who said Brezinski inappropriately touched her. The affidavit states the sexual abuse began in 2020.

The victim’s mother provided Ring camera video that showed Brezinski in the living room removing his pants and then walking upstairs to the victim’s bedroom, returning approximately 40 minutes later. According to documents, the victim said Brezinski would sexually assault her in her bedroom mostly during the middle of the night. He would enter her room with the light of his phone on and then get into bed with her. Once in bed, he would remove the victim’s clothes and his pants.

A search of Brezinski’s phone also showed he would send sexually explicit text messages to the victim and asked “When are you going to bed” and “You want some company?”

On the day the victim’s mother found incriminating Ring footage, he searched for information on how to change his fingerprint, identity change surgery in the Caribbean, and how to beat a polygraph.

Brezinski is currently being held in the New Hanover County jail under a $2 million bond.

On Wednesday, he voluntarily surrendered his license to practice medicine to the NC Medical Board.
