Karen Beasley Sea Turtle Rescue and Rehab Center release record breaking number of turtles

SURF CITY, NC (WWAY)– A record-breaking sea turtles were release by the Karen Beasley Sea Turtle Rescue and Rehabilitation Center. 

Volunteers released 27 turtles back into the ocean around 8:30 Thursday morning, following their rehabilitation in Surf City.  

Each of the turtles were given names, and were the stars of a massive sendoff party. 

This was the group’s first release of the year.
