Cape Fear River Watch celebrates 30th anniversary with special event
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Cape Fear River Watch is celebrating 30 years of advocating for clean water. They’re holding a birthday party Friday night at Brooklyn Arts Center in downtown Wilmington.
There will be special speakers, live music, and stories shared about the history of Cape Fear River Watch.
Kemp Burdette is the Cape Fear Riverkeeper. He said this anniversary marks a milestone but it’s a small step in the work the organization has left to do.
“We will keep working. We will kind of redouble our efforts and continue to take on polluters who are using public waterways as their own personal waste management system,” Burdette said.
Burdette said tickets are sold out for Friday’s event.
