Fire Marshal: Columbus County business total loss after fire


COLUMBUS, NC (WWAY) — Fire officials say a business in Columbus County is a total loss after being engulfed in flames Sunday night.

A spokesman said the call came in just before 6:00 p.m. on Charlie Williamson Road in Columbus County. He said the building was used for Coastal Commercial Cleaning. The spokesman said the nearly 16,000 sq. ft. building is a total loss.

No injuries were reported.

The spokesman said 21 departments with a total of 40 units between Fire and EMS helped put it out.  He said the first is out, but there are still some hot spots.

The SBI will be investigating the cause of the fire.
