WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A Wilmington juvenile has been arrested on gun charges.

WPD units responded to the 1300 block of King Street around 11:30 p.m. Monday in reference to a suspicious subject wearing a ski mask. Upon arrival, officers located one individual and tried to speak with him.

They say the suspect then attempted to run away but was caught shortly after a brief pursuit. Officers checked the path he had just taken and say they located a gun underneath a car, in addition to his cell phone.

The 17-year-old juvenile was arrested for CCW, RDO, and Firearm Possession by a Minor.

He was taken to the WPD, however, the Office of Juvenile Justice declined to accept custody and he was released to a legal guardian.
