NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — The New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office has arrested three juveniles for their alleged connection with the homicide of another juvenile.
The shooting occurred on June 19th in Castle Hayne in the 2200 block of Teresa Dr. at approximately 5:30 pm, resulting in the death of a 17-year-old male., according to the Sheriff’s Office.
The suspects, whose identities are being withheld due to their age, were taken into custody following a thorough investigation by NHSO Detectives.
Officials say evidence gathered at the scene, along with witness testimonies, played a crucial role in the swift progress of the case.
Sarah Bonham lives on Teresa Drive and heard the shot. When she came outside, she saw the victim being tended to.
She said it’s scary to have an incident like that happen so close to home.
“Those bushes over there, it was right behind those bushes, on the other side of that driveway is where he was laying,” Bonham said. “It is very scary because we are a quiet, clinging together neighborhood. We do have traffic turning around here, people looking at our houses or whatever and they’ll turn around so I never thought anything of it.”
The suspects are currently being held at the Juvenile Detention Center, where they face charges of 1st Degree Murder with no bond.
All three juveniles are 17-year-old males.
